Job Description
Onsite DOT Delivery Driver. Responsible for quality delivery, pick‑up and relocation of customer packages and mail in a safe manner and according to customer requirements. Position requires federal DOT compliance and meets all Delivery Safety Standards.
Responsibilities- Ensure proper receiving, sorting, and PO processing.
- Ensure packages and mail are properly loaded and secured in the boxed van/truck.
- Ensure proper pick up of mail and packages from customer pickup stops/areas.
- Ensure that mail and packages are delivered to the correct delivery points.
- Maintain log books in accordance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual).
- Responsible for pre‑ and post‑trip reviews and ensures vehicle is safe, clean, and compliant with all DOT and state laws.
- Participate in Safety Programs.
- Pre‑call customers when applicable.
- Show strong customer service skills.
- Identify customer's needs and determine appropriate action.
- Refer calls to appropriate party.
- Maintain professional dress appearance per site dress code.
- Ensure all paperwork is signed and properly processed.
- Loading/off‑loading trucks may apply.
- Follow all accident/incident reporting guidelines and procedures.
- Meet productivity/quality standards as outlined by manager.
- Operate and use warehouse equipment such as forklift, stair climber, pallet jack.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Assist new delivery drivers on current routes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Safe driving record and history.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle per FMCSR regulations.
- Valid driver’s license in accordance with company policy.
- Pass a road test.
- Valid and current medical card.
- At least 20 years of age, properly licensed in the current state of residence.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid commercial driver’s license if required by state.
- Ability to read maps and electronic GPS.
- Capacity to physically handle oversized and overweight packages.
- Identify at‑risk behaviors and correct them quickly.
- Strong customer presentation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with smartphones and/or tablets with handheld electronic technology.
- Adequate reading, math skill, and ability to write legibly.
- May need certification on operation and use of warehouse equipment.
- Inherently involve risks if poor lifting or moving procedures are followed.
- Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling to service equipment at floor level.
- Physical effort required in lifting mail/packages up to 50 pounds.
- Work assignments are diversified; need to comprehend and apply complex material.
- Varied conditions: office, warehouse, and van/truck environments with adequate lighting and ventilation.
