Part Time with PARS
Job DescriptionHourly Rate: $12.50 Job description statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this job title. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required. Under direct supervision of the Community Centre Supervisor, works the front desk to provide assistance to Community Centre patrons.
Assists with special events; performs related duties as assigned. The nature of the work will require day, evening and/or weekend hours as required.
Responsible for greeting the public; answers the telephone and provides information; distributes and collects athletic equipment; takes facility reservations and maintains a schedule log. Prepares and maintains attendance reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for classes, meetings, and drop-in facility use on a computerized system. Investigates and resolves citizen complaints concerning classes, instructors, or the facility. Ensures policies and procedures are followed at all times;
handles emergencies if they develop. May set up athletic, audio/video equipment and tables/chairs; performs custodial tasks; reports larger maintenance problems. Monitors grounds and facilities to insure proper usage is maintained. Inputs and retrieves computer data; assures adequacy of desk supplies and equipment inventory; collects monies; prepares receipts and cash reports. Registers citizens using Rec Trac software ensuring necessary paperwork is completed and filed, entering information into a computer system and accepting payments.
Processes transactions using Rec Trac Software including POS transactions, selling memberships, reserving facilities, registering patrons for programs and special events. Provides various administrative services by ensuring safety in front lobby, assisting with various marketing tools, maintaining adequate levels of supplies and marketing tools, assisting with special events and providing clerical based services. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential function of this position, as is the ability to create and maintain professional, harmonious working relationships with others.
May be required to work nights, weekends or special events as needed by the department.
High School or GED preferred. Six months public contact experience required. Ability to communicate with general public and city staff. Ability to use a computer. Some knowledge of record keeping and general office procedures. Ability to maintain customer focus in difficult situations.
Other RequirementsValid driver's license required. Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards as established by the City of Rowlett. Must report all traffic citations to his/her departmental Director or his/her designee within two working days of receipt. Primarily works in an air-conditioned environment. Walking, standing, reaching is part of the physical demands of this position.
Ability to carry 25 pounds.
Part-time employees working a schedule of less than 20 hours per week are not eligible for City benefits or participation in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS). Employees in these positions participate in a Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) plan as an alternative to Social Security.
