Description

The Rowlett Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of Certified Police Officer. Must be TCOLE certified at the time of application.

Step Pay Plan (FY2026)
  • Entry: $82,950.00
  • Step 1: $86,135.54
  • Step 2: $90,413.99
  • Step 3: $94,655.63
  • Step 4: $98,897.27

Lateral pay up to step 3 ($94,655.63) will be considered for those with qualifying experience.

Position Overview

Under supervision, performs a variety of duties to an assigned area of responsibility such as identifying and apprehending criminal violators; controls and maintains public order and safety; performs related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certification required at the time of application.

  • Successful completion of a TCOLE Basic Course in Applied Police Science (Police Academy) AND
  • Passing score on the TCOLE Peace Officer licensing exam AND
  • Passing score as outlined by the City of Rowlett standards on physical assessment (18 push-ups, 25 sit-ups, a 1.5-mile run in 16 minutes or less, and a 300-meter run in 77 seconds or less.)
Other Requirements
  • Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License; maintain a good driving record per City standards; report traffic citations within two working days of receipt.
  • Vision 20/20, correctable to 20/20.
  • Must pass a background investigation, psychological exam (if required under TCOLE standards), oral interview by Interviewing Board, physical exam, and physical assessment.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts including weekends.
Work Schedule

Offering a 4-day work week with standard business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., depending on departmental schedules.
