Police Officer - CERTIFIED

Position Overview

Under supervision, performs a variety of duties to an assigned area of responsibility such as identifying and apprehending criminal violators; controls and maintains public order and safety; performs related duties as required.

• Must possess the following:
  • Successful completion of a TCOLE Basic Course in Applied Police Science (Police Academy).
  • Passing score on the TCOLE Peace Officer licensing exam.
  • Passing score on physical assessment as outlined by the City of Rowlett standards.
  • Physical assessment requirements: 18 push-ups, 25 sit-ups and a 1.5-mile run in 16 minutes or less, and a 300‑meter run in 77 seconds or less.
  • Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License with a good driving record and report all traffic citations within two working days.
  • Vision 20/20, correctable to 20/20.
  • Pass background investigation, psychological exam (if required by TCOLE), oral interview by Interviewing Board, physical exam, and physical assessment.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends.
