The Associate Pastor serves as the second-chair pastoral leader at FBC Rowlett, assisting the Senior Pastor in advancing the vision, mission, and ministry health of the church. This leader will provide oversight to ministry staff and volunteers, with direct leadership for preschool, children's, student, and adult ministries. The role requires a mature, collaborative pastor who values Scripture, evangelism, discipleship, leadership development, and measurable church growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary associate and ministry partner to the Senior Pastor.
  • Provide oversight, coaching, and support for preschool, children, and student ministers and volunteers.
  • Strengthen evangelism efforts so the church consistently reaches lost people and connects them to ongoing discipleship.
  • Help develop and implement a comprehensive discipleship strategy for all ages.
  • Assist in increasing attendance, assimilation, engagement, and ministry participation across the church.
  • Participate in pastoral care, church-wide planning, and staff collaboration.
  • Preach and teach as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
  • Support churchwide events, outreach efforts, and ministry alignment with the church's vision.
Ministry Oversight
  • Lead regular ministry meetings with preschool, children, student and Connect Group leaders.
  • Develop leaders, equip volunteers, and ensure ministry teams are aligned with the church's mission.
  • Oversee annual planning, calendars, budgets, and ministry goals for assigned areas.
  • Monitor ministry effectiveness and recommend improvements for growth and discipleship.
  • Promote unity and healthy communication among staff, volunteers, families, and ministry participants.
  • Help coordinate special events, seasonal ministries, camps, retreats, and outreach events.
Pastoral Duties
  • Provide biblical counsel and prayer support to members and attendees.
  • Assist with baptisms, weddings, funerals, hospital visits, and pastoral care as needed.
  • Support new member assimilation, follow-up, and connection to ministry pathways.
  • Help maintain a strong pastoral presence among families, leaders, and guests.
  • Participate in staff meetings, prayer meetings, planning meetings, and church-wide leadership functions.

Qualifications
  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and evidence of spiritual maturity.
  • Demonstrated history of ministry growth, leadership development, and team building.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relational skills.
  • A minimum of 5 years of full-time ministry experience.
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple ministries and lead diverse age groups.
  • Ability to recruit, train, and mobilize volunteers and ministry leaders.
  • MDiv or equivalent theological education preferred.
  • Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
Performance Expectations
  • Provide clear ministry direction and measurable progress in assigned areas.
  • Maintain strong relationships with ministry leaders, staff, and families.
  • Help create a culture of discipleship, outreach, and biblical faithfulness.
  • Demonstrate reliability, spiritual consistency, and alignment with church vision.
  • Produce annual ministry plans and regular updates for the Senior Pastor.
