Person County Department of Social Services is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-Time Income Maintenance Caseworker II within the Department of Social Services (DSS). This position is assigned to the Food & Nutrition Services Unit in the Income Maintenance Program area and plays a vital role in supporting the well-being of individuals and families throughout the community.

This person may take applications for Food & Nutrition Services as needed and also assist the unit in covering caseloads when other staff are out or a position is vacant. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys public service and making a meaningful difference in the lives of community members by helping them access critical resources that promote food security and self-sufficiency.

The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience. Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy. This is a non-exempt position. Part-time employees cannot work more than 1000 hours per calendar year.

Required Minimum Training:
One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred

Qualification:

Candidates with prior experience in determining eligibility for Food and Nutrition Services in NC FAST.

Person County conducts pre-employment screening on candidates. Job offers are conditional pending the following:

• A pre-employment drug screen for all candidates. Positions designated by Person County as Safety Sensitive are also subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
• A background check for all candidates. Some positions also require a credit check.
• Additional screening and testing required for some positions.
• Within 3 days of the start of your employment with the County, you must be able to provide proof of your eligibility to work in the US.

Part-time employees can enroll in the NC 401k and NC 457 plans through Empower. No County contributions. County gym membership if working at least 850 hours per year. Cost is $50 per year.
