Principal/Senior Principal Data Transfer Analyst (Northrop Grumman Defense Systems)

Location: Roy, UT

Program: Sentinel program

Relocation Assistance: May be available.
Travel: Yes, 10% of the time.

Description

This position supports the Sentinel program as an Assured File Data Transfer Analyst responsible for ensuring the integrity and security of data releases, leveraging deep subject knowledge, conducting thorough reviews, and upholding compliance and security standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of subject matter and applicable classification, marking, and release policies.
  • Perform thorough, end‑to‑end reviews of all materials requested for release, validating classification, content sensitivity, and eligibility.
  • Communicate concerns regarding classification or release eligibility clearly and promptly to stakeholders and appropriate authorities.
  • Refuse sign‑off when classification is uncertain or the content is not eligible for release and elevate for adjudication as needed.
  • Document review outcomes, rationale, and any requested changes; track issues to resolution.
  • Complete required training (e.g., CAD reviewer SME training and periodic refreshers) and maintain currency with policy updates.
  • Before each sign‑off, acknowledge understanding of SME expectations and potential “Code Blue” (data spill) implications.
  • Adhere to secure handling, chain‑of‑custody, and record‑keeping protocols for all materials under review.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of review checklists, guidance, and workflows.
Risk Management

Failure to perform a thorough review or to identify information that cannot be released may result in:

  • A data spill that puts national security and the warfighter at risk.
  • Decreased government confidence in the organization’s ability to protect classified information.
  • Repeated issues that may lead to formal government notification and the requirement to submit and execute a Corrective Action Plan (CAP).
  • Issuance of a security violation reportable to the government.
  • Temporary or permanent revocation of SME status.
  • Government‑directed debriefing.

Work Schedule

This full‑time position follows a 9/80 schedule, allowing employees who work nine hours Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Competitive relocation assistance may be offered.

Basic Qualifications
  • Principal Data Transfer Analyst – Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience;
    Master’s with 4 years;
    PhD with 2 years; or 4+ years of experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Senior Principal Data Transfer Analyst – Bachelor’s with 8 years;
    Master’s with 6 years;
    PhD with 4 years; or 4+ years of experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Active Secret clearance at start with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience working within an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Project.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to communicate across multiple organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Subject‑matter expertise in relevant domain with ability to interpret and apply classification and releasability guidance.
  • Experience reviewing materials for classification, markings, and external release eligibility within a compliance‑ or security‑driven environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable policies, standards, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., classification guides, agency‑specific handling rules, export controls).
  • Completion or ability to complete required SME training (e.g., CAD reviewer SME training).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, risk awareness, and professional judgement; willing to halt or refuse release when warranted.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate concerns and decisions to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate independently under deadlines while maintaining thoroughness and precision.
