Job DescriptionA position has been declared open in the Weber School District for a part‑time Special Education Life Skills Para educator for 28.75 hours per week, 180 days over 9.5 months per year (note that the Wednesday workday will generally be shortened due to Early Release). This position is compensated according to Lane 4(B) of the Paraprofessionals Salary Schedule.

This position is funded, in full or in part, through grant allocations or enrollment-based funding sources. Employment is guaranteed through the current school year (or the upcoming school year if the posting occurs during summer). Continuation of employment (or the position’s hourly workload) beyond this period is not assured and is contingent upon the availability of future funding.
Duties and Responsibilities- Adapt classroom work under the direction of the teacher to support and reinforce lesson plans.
- Assist other personnel in completing work activities as required.
- Implement instructional behavioral programs under teacher supervision to improve students’ academic success.
- Maintain students’ files/records to document activities and provide reliable information.
- Monitor individual students in classroom, library, playground, etc., to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
- Perform record keeping and clerical functions (e.g., scheduling, copying) to support teachers and administrators.
- Assist with daily living skills (e.g., toileting, changing diapers, feeding, personal hygiene) to demonstrate skills and/or provide care.
- Adapt to changing work priorities; display tact and courtesy; meet deadlines and schedules; set priorities; attend to detail; work with detailed information/data.
- Attendance is an essential function: physical presence at the worksite is required for in‑person collaboration, direct interaction with team members, other staff, students and/or guardians, and access to on‑site equipment and resources.
- Assist other personnel in completing their work activities.
Physical Requirements
- Assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, sitting in student‑size chairs) for extended periods.
- Manage physically or verbally aggressive students safely.
- Participate with students in physical fitness activities such as walking, stretching, and aerobic exercise.
- Lift occasionally up to 60 lbs. to a height of 36 inches, and frequently up to 25 lbs. to the same height.
- Sanitize and clean equipment (work boxes, exercise equipment, walkers, wheelchairs).
- Remain calm and follow safety procedures in emergency situations.
- Walk with students to bus stops in inclement weather.
- Willingness to participate in and utilize MANDT training.
- May require work with bio‑hazards (blood borne pathogens, human waste, cleaning/disinfecting materials).
