Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Design Engineering - CSA to join our team and support the Sentinel Program. This role is based in Roy, UT
.

What Youind To Do

The selected candidate will become a Principal/Sr Principal Civil/Structural Design Engineer on the Infrastructure Design Team (INF). This role supports the design, modeling, and integration efforts for Civil/Structural elements for Sentinel Launch Facilities, Launch Centers, or Test Facilities.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee and coordinate civil/structural systems design for the Sentinel infrastructure and facilities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise supporting the design of high complexity civil/structural systems, including structural steel design drawings and concrete forming and reinforcing design drawings.
  • Review structural design/selection/engineering for modularized fabrication.
  • Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.
  • Participate in project design/model reviews.
  • Review subcontractors design product quality/accuracy by reviewing civil/structural designs and validating that current standards are applied and integrated into the design solution.
  • Support the delivery of Civil/Structural facility design Technical Data Packages, Issue-for-Construction (IFC) packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts.
  • Support structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues.
  • Develop and present design change requests, coordinate with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensure configuration control of the technical baseline.
  • Identify risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and execute handling/mitigation/capture actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities.
  • Develop and mature Civil/Structural facility designs that meet Weapon System requirements, UFC, MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.

The position follows a 9/80 schedule. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Youind These Qualifications

This position may be filled at either a Principal or Senior Principal level.

  • Principal Design Engineer:
    Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 5 years’ experience; 3 years’ experience with a Master’s degree; or 1 year of experience with a PhD.
  • Sr. Principal Design Engineer:
    Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 8 years’ experience; 6 years’ experience with a Master’s degree; or 4 years’ experience with a PhD.
These Qualifications Would Be Nice To Have
  • Professional Engineering (PE) or Structural Engineering (SE) License with any state
  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Revit, Siemens NX and Teamcenter
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance with the most recent investigation completed in the last 5 years
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing direction
