Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Principal Industrial / Sr Principal Industrial Engineer
. This position is in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
- Strong foundation in Industrial Engineering fundamentals (Production Intervals, Cycle Time, Takt Time, Standard Hour Content, Time Studies, EVMS, Continuous Improvement, Scheduling, Capacity Analysis, Facility Layouts)
- Understand principles of capacity (efficiencies, standards, constraints, etc.)
- Knowledge of manufacturing flows and how they interface with shop floor and Global Supply Chain
- Ability to create Shop Operation Plans for production units and track daily shop floor performance.
- Ability to create Recovery Schedules for the production floor.
- Understand labor standard development and work measurement. Create standard hour content for new scope.
- Perform shop floor time studies on manufacturing and test activities.
- Work with functional team to understand scheduling requirements at implementation sites
- Ability to create detailed manufacturing waterfall schedules with setbacks to independent demands
- Utilize process improvement methodology (e.g., value stream mapping, employee engagement techniques, flow reduction, etc.)
- Design and optimize Shop Floor/Facility Layouts
- Understand principals of cost management (Earned Value, Milestone payments)
- Conduct Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRAs) with Suppliers
- Engage and collaborate with various product teams and functional organizations (from individual contributors to executive staff) to obtain, understand, and interpret manufacturing facilitation and scheduling requirements
- Document, track and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution
- Utilize your strong organizational, planning and decision-making skills and the ability to work as a team member and with other members from different technical backgrounds
- Ability to coordinate with larger teams at different site locations
- Create and present technical briefings for upper management and technical leadership

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications- Principal Industrial Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience;
Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience;
PhD with 1 year of relevant experience. - Sr Principal Industrial Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience;
Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience;
PhD with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time
