Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Facility Design Section Manager 2 - TDP to join our team and support the Sentinel Program. This role will be based in Roy, UT
.
- Become a Section Manager & Design Engineer for the Infrastructure Design Team (INF).
- Support the design, modeling, and integration efforts for various design element releases for Sentinel Launch Facilities, Launch Centers, or Test Facilities.
- Manage a motivated team of engineers within a matrixed functional organization with the associated Assignment Manager(s).
- Communicate effectively across engineering disciplines and design teams, working independently and collaboratively to resolve issues, determine priorities, and implement solutions.
- Manage a team of individual contributors, who may support one or more programs within SDS.
- Provide performance feedback, training, mentoring and coaching to employees.
- Support workforce planning and maintain sufficient depth and breadth of skillsets within your team’s core discipline to meet program needs.
- Conduct employee performance reviews and support employee career development.
- Exhibit excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with senior management, external stakeholders, peers, and employees.
- Support development and refinement of processes and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions.
- Support proposal work, independent technical reviews, program stand‑up and audits, and special assignments on an as‑needed basis.
- Support employee engagement, hiring, development, training, attraction, and retention of top talent.
- Oversee and coordinate civil/structural systems design for the Sentinel infrastructure and facilities.
- Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert supporting the design of high‑complexity civil/structural systems, including structural steel design drawings, concrete forming and reinforcing design drawings.
- Review structural design/selection/engineering for modularized fabrication.
- Review subcontractors’ design product quality/accuracy by reviewing facility designs and validating that current standards are applied and integrated into the design solution.
- Deliver Construction Drawings and Specifications Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Issue‑for‑Construction (IFC) packages, as‑built TDPs, Product Definition Packages (PDPs), interface models, and additional design artifacts.
- Support structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions and resolve technical issues.
- Develop and present design change requests, coordinate with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensure configuration control of the technical baseline.
- Develop and mature facility designs that meet applicable codes and regulations.
The ideal candidate can create and manage high‑performing teams while providing technical and administrative expertise in the day‑to‑day activities required to successfully execute complex engineering programs. Candidate will be self‑motivated, work under general direction, and work well in teams.
