Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Strategic Deterrent System (SDS) Division. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

- Reviews and interprets existing and proposed environmental, health, safety & sustainability (EHS&S) regulations to determine applicability and impact for sites.
- Assists with implementation of programs to comply with EHS&S regulations.
- Partners with business leaders to continuously improve the culture, awareness, and accountability in support of EHS&S programs.
- Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS&S programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.
- Completes audits, IH sampling, ergonomic assessments, and assist in pollution prevention activities. Interfaces with regulatory representatives, senior management, the site EHS&S Committee.
- Assists with the implementation of EHS&S management systems at the site level.
- Serves as a liaison with regulatory agencies.
- Provides timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to the company and regulatory agencies.
- Writes and updates EHS&S plans and procedures.
- Applies for new permits and renewals.
- Conduct compliance inspections and identifies actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates EHS&S training for employees and conducts instructor-led EHS&S training.
This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

- Principal EHS Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Sr Principal EHS Engineer: 8 Years with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must be a U.S citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government DoD security clearance.
- Previous experience using collaboration skills with all levels of an organization.
- Proven ability to perform job duties with general direction and supervision and to provide technical solutions to complex problems based on sound safety principles.
- Able to Travel as needed.
- Master of Science (MS) degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or currently enrolled in an M.S. degree program.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- EHS experience in manufacturing.
- Experience managing various EHS compliance programs (with an emphasis on occupational safety programs, such as chemical safety/hygiene, ergonomics, lockout/tagout, contractor safety, confined space, fall protection, respiratory protection, incident investigations, etc.) based on the review and interpretation of EHS regulations and company policies & procedures.
- Experience with oversight of third-party consultants/contractors.
- Experience conducting personal protective equipment assessments and job hazard analysis.
- Experience conducting facilities inspections from an EHS&S standpoint to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
