Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Senior Principal Electrical Engineer to join the test design and analysis team as part of the Integration Assembly Test and Checkout (IATC) element of the Command and Launch (C&L) segment. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. What You'll Get To Do Selected candidate will be responsible for the architecture, development, and delivery of multiple cable/harness engineering design solutions.
This role provides the opportunity to be a technical expert, take ownership of the Special Test Equipment (STE) statement of work from concept design to product delivery, and to be one of the recognized Subject Matter Experts (SME's) within the team for Cable, Harness, and Instrumentation. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
* Define and document electrical interconnects through coordination with system, subsystem, and unit engineers
* Pro-actively communicate across teams to ensure critical data is identified for collection.
* Incorporate project flow down requirements into the harness/cable design
* Prepare and present harness subsystem design, architecture and implementation plans at various design team meetings and reviews
* Assist in establishing harness/cable routing and segmentation
* Perform voltage drop analysis and capacitance studies
* Experience in RF transmission line analysis and performance
* Provide support to Manufacturing, Procurement, Lab Integration and Test
* Design and implement Test and Measurement systems in a the lab space.
* Perform Technical Lead review and provide sign off on electrical harness and wiring diagrams.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 8 years of experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience; or PhD with 4 years of experience.
* Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
* At least 1 year of experience with basic data signal types (MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, CAN etc.).
* At least 1 year of experience with circuit design analysis and electrical system sizing/protection as well as various wire shielding requirements.
* At least 1 year of experience with wire gauge sizing, voltage drop analysis, and derating analysis.
* At least 1 year of experience with harness fabrication, component (back-shell, connector, cable and wire) selection and installation processes with hands-on experience.
* At least 1 year of experience with EMI/RF principles and their application to harness shielding.
* At least 1 year of experience with Parts, Materials and Processes for electrical harness related to power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal applications, as well as manufacturing support.
* At least 1 year of experience Data Acquisition and Instrumentation systems.
* Familiarity with industry cable and harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739.4 and AS50881.
Preferred Qualifications:
* An active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
* Proficiency in design tools such as Microsoft Visio, Rapid Harness, NX, AutoCAD, Capital, Teamcenter.
* Prior experience in coordinating with multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) within a dynamic program environment.
* At least 1 year of experience with military aircraft avionics subsystems.
* Experience with preparing and presenting oral and written reports.
* Familiarity with PM&P requirements per Aerospace TOR-)-5235 /
-5236.
