Description

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Nuclear Hardness & Survivability (NH&S) Engineer at the Principal Engineer (T03 level) or Sr Principal (T-04 level). This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do:
  • Defining NH&S environments
  • Radiation transport modeling and simulation
  • Radiation effects circuit analysis
  • Ground shock and thermal effects analysis
  • Effects of electromagnetic pulses on electronics
  • NHS qualification testing and analysis of semiconductors
  • NHS qualification testing and analysis of the GBSD systems, subsystems and equipment
Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (T-03) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (T-04).

Required for both levels:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance
    , at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Coordinate vertically and horizontally with multiple engineering teams and organizations
  • Basic understanding of nuclear weapons effects and/or associated testing
  • Basic understanding of scripting programing languages (
    MATLAB
    , Python or similar tool)
Principal Systems Engineer (T03 Level)
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with Master's degree, 1 year with a PhD
  • 3+ years’ experience in MIL-STD-750, MIL-STD-464 or MIL-STD-883 testing or similar testing experience
Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (T04 Level)
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 Years of related experience; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
  • 5+ years’ experience in MIL-STD-750, MIL-STD-464 or MIL-STD-883 testing or similar testing experience
  • 5+ years’ experience conducting NH&S design reviews for a survivable program
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Experience in embedded hardware and software qualification testing for circuit card assemblies and subassemblies
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1766C
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-461
  • Previous experience with radiation shielding design to protect against photons or neutrons and verification modeling using MCNP or GEANT4
  • Experience with modeling semiconductor radiation effects, including Total Ionizing Dose (TID) effects, Neutron Displacement Damage (NDD) effects, Prompt Gamma Dose Rate effects, and Single Event Effects (SEE) using PSPICE
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to execute to a program schedule
  • Weapon System experience (Sentinel, Minuteman III, or similar military or industry experience)
  • Master’s degree in electrical or nuclear engineering from an accredited institution

Standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
