Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Technical Services Sr. Principal Engineer (T04 level) located in Roy, Utah supporting the Sentinel program.
What You’ll Get To DoThe selected candidate will serve as the principal liaison between our training organization, the customer, suppliers, and weapon system teams. Positioned within Weapon System Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and working groups, these engineers will capture system‑level requirements, translate them into actionable training solutions, and maintain the architectural models that underpin sustainment and life‑cycle planning. In this role, you will develop and manage comprehensive training documentation, design sustainment strategies, and coordinate closely with engineering, production, logistics, contracting, and customer support functions.
The role demands a deep understanding of courseware and training device development and the ability to transform information from IPTs and working groups into effective training solutions that support both current operations and long‑term sustainment.
- Gather & validate training requirements – attend IPT meetings, working groups, and customer briefings to collect training needs; verify completeness and traceability in DOORS.
- Develop & maintain training architecture – sustain system‑level training models in CAMEO, linking materiel functions, human performance, and support equipment; keep models current as the weapon system evolves.
- Produce technical training documents – author Training Requirement Documents, Training Plans, and Technical Reports that meet applicable MIL STD/DoD standards and are fully traceable to system requirements.
- Sustainment strategy & life‑cycle forecasting – design comprehensive sustainment strategies that include training concepts, schedules, risk mitigation actions, and forecasted training effort over the system life cycle.
- Liaise across disciplines – interface daily with engineering, production, logistics, contracting, and customer support teams to ensure training objectives align with system design, production schedules, and logistic support plans.
- Facilitate information flow – synthesize technical information gathered from IPTs and working groups, then communicate concise status, issues, and recommendations to the training team, senior management, and the customer.
- Support systems engineering processes – participate in system functional analyses, interface control documentation, and configuration management activities; apply systems engineering discipline to training solution design.
- Apply training development lifecycle – perform analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of training solutions; recommend corrective actions based on performance metrics and lessons learned.
- Risk & issue management – identify training‑related risks, develop mitigation plans, and track issue resolution in coordination with all stakeholder groups.
- Mentor & share knowledge – provide technical guidance to junior staff and act as a subject matter expert for training systems integration within the organization.
