Senior Principal Material Process Engineer

Location:

Huntsville, AL or Roy, UT. Supports the Sentinel program.

• Perform full spectrum of design application parts management tasks on assigned system and subsystems to ensure streamlined risk identification, mitigation, and tracking of at‑risk component issues during design and manufacturing of weapon systems and equipment under a Systems Engineering framework.
• Develop comprehensive test or data analysis strategies for large‑scale aerospace and ground control system components.
• Create, analyze, and produce roadmaps, impact, and issue reports and present data to stakeholders, customers, and upper management.
• Research specifications and standards to support part, material & process engineering processes across multiple internal and external supplier sub‑system designs and manufacturing processes.
• Maintain close coordination with integrated product teams and provide detailed status to program leadership.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, design engineers, project managers, reliability engineers, and external customers to establish clear part, material, and process design documentation traceability to system performance.

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience, or Master’s degree and 3 years of experience, or PhD and 0 years of experience.
• U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience with high‑value customer presentations.
• Test plan writing and review experience, negotiation soft skills.
• Experience performing in an Agile environment and knowledge of JIRA.
• Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification.
• NIST‑based calibration accreditation (ISO/IEC/17025).

• Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
• Familiarity with MIL‑STD specifications.
• Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts related to part/material performance and service life estimation.
• General knowledge of Systems Engineering, multi‑generational program system and/or component development, and familiarity with supplier management.
• Works independently to provide innovative technical solutions using literature review and testing.
• Understanding of process/procedure development, control, and improvement.
• Experience in material properties, semiconductor electronics, corrosion, metallurgy, etc.
• Familiar with Service Life Testing, reliability sampling, and failure analysis.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.

Primary level salary range: $ – $. Depending on position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and in some cases long‑term incentives.
