Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 in Roy, UT supporting Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Engineering & Manufacturing.
What You’ll Get To DoFunctional homeroom management: 20%. Guidance Computer Mechanical Lead: 80%, overseeing the mechanical design of the Guidance Computer (GC) within the GN&C section of SDS Design Engineering (FS BU).

- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree in a related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience
- Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
- 1–2 years of Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience, demonstrated ability to identify and track program risks and opportunities, and financial proficiency with EVMS (or a similar cost and schedule management system)
- Minimal experience or general knowledge with the design of Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) for military applications
- Minimum of 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against cost and schedule
- Experience with the manufacturing of electronic systems
- Demonstrated understanding of Lean, Agile or Six Sigma tools
- Experience with specific tools available for Subcontract management (Award Fee/incentive fee flow-downs, supplier assessment/evaluation, Corrective Action Requests, Letters of Concern, etc.)
- Experience in early design phases, including conceptual studies, analysis of alternatives, feasibility studies, or preliminary system‑level design
- Project / Program Management skills (proposal creation, development and adherence to master plans and schedules, budget tracking, risk and opportunity management)
- Experience with the application of Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) controls for high‑reliability military applications
- Experience managing and leading a team of engineers
- Proficiency with mechanical engineering design and CAD tools like Siemens NX
- Experience with product lifecycle management tools such as Siemens Teamcenter PLM
