Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at Roy, UT to support the Sentinel (GBSD) program in the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division.

Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure. The applicant will be responsible for the design, development, production, and deployment of launch-equipment hardware and systems for each weapons system facility. Working in a dynamic, people-focused environment, the engineer will collaborate closely with users, customers, and fellow engineers to deliver high performance mechanical solutions for the Sentinel program.

This position may be filled at a higher level based on qualifications below.

Roles and Responsibilities
* Primary role is to serve as a mechanical designer for mechanical systems (mechanisms) design on a major Northrop Grumman Defense Systems program

* Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical/aerospace products for aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, missiles, ground vehicles and associated ground and test equipment

* Develop CAD models and 3D model based drawings using Siemens NX and Team Center

* Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis

* Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including design, drawings, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance

* Design of components/systems, and preliminary/sizing analysis for both stress and dynamic analysis of aerospace structures.

* Preparation and presentation of reports, briefings, design documents (drawings and specifications) and interface with customers.

* Attend internal program meetings, customer technical exchanges, and supplier briefings; present design status during formal milestone reviews

* Assisting IPT lead in managing team schedule and mentoring junior engineers in mechanical design Basic Qualifications This position may be filled at a Principal level or Senior Principal level
* Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with 5 years of relevant experience (Sr. Principal level requires a Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience; or a Master's with 6 years of experience)
* Requires U.S. Citizenship with an Active Secret Security Clearance or higher

* Requires the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

* Requires a minimum 5 years of experience with CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred)

* Requires a minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering that includes a background in mechanical systems (mechanisms preferred)

* Requires experience with common engineering standards (ISO, ASME, Mil Spec, NAS, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

* Knowledge of GD&T, materials selection, and manufacturing processes

* Demonstrated ability to lead design teams and drive technical decisions

* Experience with Team Center (CPLM) and the Product Definition Package (PDP) release process

* Experience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standards

* Experience with requirements management and model-based systems engineering (MBSE)…
