Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

What You'll Get To Do:

The Flight Systems Futures operating unit within Strategic Deterrent Systems is seeking highly motivated talent to join a team at the forefront of next-generation hypersonic capabilities. Our team focuses on the design, development, and demonstration of hypersonic re-entry vehicles and advanced payloads, with an emphasis on rapid development and prototyping aligned to specific customer missions. We operate in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where innovative concepts are matured quickly into credible, testable solutions that address our nation's most demanding strategic deterrence needs.

  • This role will be joining a team of electrical engineers as part of one of our new programs, the following are the roles responsibilities:

  • author clear, testable requirements and verification plans for electrical subsystems.

  • review and assess vendor provided technical data (schematics, datasheets, test reports) for compliance with program requirements.

  • support and update the program Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) model, maintaining traceability among requirements, interfaces, and verification items.

  • collaborate with mechanical, software, and test engineers to capture cross domain impacts and resolve conflicts.

  • participate in design, trade, and verification reviews; provide status updates to program leadership.

  • follow Northrop Grumman configuration control and documentation standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of experience, or 6 years of experience with a Master's degree, or 4 years of experience with a PhD

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Top Secret Clearance.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • 3+ years' experience in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and component datasheets with familiarity with creating verification matrices, test procedures, and traceability documentation for electrical hardware.

  • 1+ years experience in model based engineering concepts; ability to work with and maintain system models.

  • 1+ years experience of industry/military codes and standards, including mil-specs, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEC, and UFC.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience generating and maintaining requirements in an MBSE model using CAMEO Systems Modeler (or equivalent SysML tool).

  • Prior involvement with electrical subsystems for nuclear surety or nuclear safety programs.

  • Experience with configuration management tools (Perforce, Git) and PLM systems.

  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or similar certification.

  • Basic knowledge or ability to pick up Northrop Grumman engineering processes (CMMI, MILSTD
    498, DO178C/DO254).

  • Strong written and verbal communication; capable of producing concise status reports and presenting technical information to cross functional teams.

  • Experience with high-power and/or high-frequency systems, including power electronics.
