Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) located in Roy, UT is seeking a Staff Metals & Corrosion Material Process Engineer to join a team committed to advanced weapons system development.

• Perform full-spectrum corrosion management tasks on assigned systems and subsystems, ensuring risk identification, mitigation, and tracking during design within a Systems Engineering framework.
• Develop, maintain, review, and approve Corrosion Prevention and Control Plans (CPCPs), PPSLs, and PAMPLs for all design teams and major sub‑suppliers, and perform issue tracking and risk mitigation for all corrosion issues.
• Apply technical principles, theories, and concepts related to service‑life estimation and corrosion to support engineering decisions.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Systems Engineering, multi‑generational program system/subsystem development, and supplier management practices.
• Work independently to provide innovative technical solutions to complex problems.
• Create and analyze roadmaps, impact, and issue reports; present data to stakeholders, customers, and upper management.
• Research specifications, standards, technical data sources, and government or commercial references to support metals and corrosion engineering processes.
• Review engineering solutions, designs, and technical data for corrosion impacts; follow Systems Engineering disciplines and assist in Hexavalent Chromium prevention processes.
• Maintain close coordination with integrated product teams; provide status updates to program leadership; participate in Corrosion Prevention and Advisory Board meetings as required.
• Self‑motivated, work under general direction, and collaborate effectively in teams.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, design engineers, project managers, reliability engineers, and external customers to establish corrosion best practices for galvanic assessments, service‑life predictions, failure analysis, and 3D modeling.

The position follows a 9/80 schedule: nine‑hour days Monday through Thursday, with every other Friday off.

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or related STEM field.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience.
• U.S. Citizen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
• Previous project leadership experience.
• Familiarity with metallurgical engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and 3D models.
• Experience with AWS and/or ASME welding specifications.

• Degree in Corrosion Engineering, Metallurgy, Welding Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
• Familiarity with corrosion, metallurgy, welding, mechanical properties, and materials properties.
• Understanding of process/procedure development, control, and improvement.
• Passion for corrosion, metallurgy, material properties, and creative problem‑solving.
• Experience in test plan writing and review, negotiation, and soft skills.
• Experience reviewing and approving materials and processes for program‑approved lists.
• Familiar with service‑life testing, reliability sampling, and failure analysis.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including high‑value customer presentations.
• Demonstrated experience making decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.
• Strong sense of urgency and work ethic to meet engineering and customer expectations.
• Experience leading or supporting a development engineering team.
• Experience working with customers to ensure project success.
• Experience performing in an Agile environment and knowledge of JIRA.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,000 – $208,600.
