Description

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer for the Launch Support System team in Roy, UT supporting the Sentinel program.

The selected candidate will have sound technical experience and understanding of production processes for assembly, fabrication, planning, and tooling. Day‑to‑day tasks will require strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and PC computer skills. The role demands an understanding of high‑rate production tooling strategies and document control, a can‑do attitude, and the willingness to advise and guide team members in a startup‑program environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support production, business, and other processes in a team‑based manufacturing environment.
  • Perform activities across cross‑functional areas, including manufacturing readiness assessments, total quality management, manufacturing equipment, facilities engineering, process reengineering, and establishing sector business area procedural documentation.
  • Facilitate self‑directed work teams, provide training in core skill areas to teams and peers, and interact with internal and external customers regarding product tooling, problem resolution, and process improvement.

Salary Range

Primary level salary range: $89,400.00 – $. Compensation will be determined based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives. Additional benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and PTO for vacation or personal business.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience; or master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience;
    PhD with 1 year of relevant experience; or an additional 4 years of relevant experience may be used in lieu of a formal degree.
  • U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance having an investigation date within the last 6 years; able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period.
  • Understanding and knowledge of engineering releases and supporting documentation for material procurement.
  • Experience authoring/peer‑reviewing comprehensive, detailed work instructions.
  • Proficiency with MES, Rose, CPLM, NX, and related tool suites supporting manufacturing engineering.
  • Strong understanding and experience with mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Experience working in a Model Based Manufacturing digital environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in STEM or an engineering discipline such as mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, aerospace, etc.
  • Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance awarded or reviewed within the last 6 years.
  • Experience integrating design into production and deploying engineering solutions to the field.
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Readiness Assessments and establishing Manufacturing Readiness Levels per DoD customer requirements.
  • Prior experience developing and designing tooling for field work and installations.
  • Experience resolving manufacturing process issues and training operators on new processes.
  • Experience in an agile environment leveraging Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with ICBM weapon systems, missile/rocket systems, or DoD programs.
  • Experience working in a lab/test environment.
