Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Principal/Sr Principal Project Manager. This position is located in Roy, UT. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To DoProject Managers serve as the primary liaison between projects and stakeholders, regularly reviewing status, managing schedules, and preparing reports. They apply their knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques across all project phases—Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing—to deliver projects on time, within scope, on budget, and with high quality. Their core duties include developing and maintaining comprehensive project plans that encompass such items as work breakdown structures, detailed schedules, cost estimates, and resource allocations, while continuously monitoring progress, tracking performance, and reporting status.
They also identify, assess, and mitigate risks and opportunities, ensuring compliance with standards such as Earned Value Management and aligning deliverables with Northrop Grumman requirements. In addition to technical competencies, Project Managers must demonstrate strong soft skill capabilities. Effective communication, leadership, problem solving, and negotiation are essential for managing stakeholder expectations and supporting team members. They are expected to uphold company values, make business savvy decisions, and foster collaboration, all of which keep projects aligned with organizational goals and ensure successful outcomes.
This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

- Principal Project Manager:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; master's degree and 3 years’ experience;
PhD and 1 years’ experience or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree. - At least 1 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.
- Sr Principal Project Manager:
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience; master's degree and 6 years’ experience;
PhD and 4 years’ experience or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree. - At least 4 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.
- Must be a U.S citizen and have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
- Demonstrated track record/ experience in project management/ execution and closeout
- Skilled use of Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project).
- Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers.
