Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by employing technology, therapeutic intervention, and coordination of care with other health team members.

    Full time (36 budgeted hours). 7:45 am – 8:00 pm. Three twelve‑hour shifts in a week. Rotating weekends.

    RN with 1-2 years of experience preferred. Hospital triage, ER, ICU experience preferred.
  • Additional Information: RNs in the urgent care focus on patient safety. Duties include triaging/assessing patients upon arrival to the IC.
Scope

Staff RNs are pivotal members of the care delivery team led by the physician and possess specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities pertinent to ambulatory care patient needs. Scope of performance includes prioritization and triage of care delivery, implementation of standing orders and protocols, and carrying out procedures and therapies consistent with training and licensure. This position requires specialized knowledge and increased accountability specific to high acuity and/or specialized patient populations (e.g., Instacares, Obstetrics, Infusion services, Sedation monitoring).

Assessment
:
Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills as appropriate); seeks and evaluates information from other interdisciplinary team members.

Planning
:
Uses assessment information and critical thinking skills to collaboratively develop individualized plans of care; actively involves patients and families in the planning process; prepares patients for further support once current episode of care outcomes are met (e.g., teaching, referrals, follow‑up).

Implementation
:
Directs the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration.

Evaluation
:
Evaluates patient response to interventions through review of goal achievement, clinical outcomes, patient and family satisfaction; revises plans of care as indicated.

Professional Development
:
Promotes the nursing profession and participates in developing others; fosters appropriate professional relationships with physicians; integrates legal and ethical standards into practice, complies with regulatory standards and Intermountain policy, practices within scope of licensure, provides accurate and timely documentation, and understands legal implications of care; meets initial, annual, and ongoing competency requirements for job functions beyond basic RN training (e.g., clinical procedures, pertinent laboratory tests, equipment use).

Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives (CQI, TQM, Lean).

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current RN license in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Practice‑specific certification as required by the clinical setting (e.g., ACLS, PALS).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their BSN within four years of start date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
