Job DescriptionThis part-time Accountant position focuses on maintaining accurate financial records through subsidiary ledger reconciliations and providing support and assistance with the City’s bank reconciliations, while also supporting general ledger maintenance and audit preparation. The position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in accounting principles, and the ability to work independently under general direction of the Finance Director and Assistant Finance Director.
EssentialJob Functions
- Reconcile various subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
- Provide support and assistance with the City’s bank reconciliations.
- Prepare, input, and post journal entries accurately and timely.
- Verify that accounts payable checks agree with invoices and supporting documentation.
- Assist during the city’s annual audit, including preparation of interim and year-end audit schedules.
- Work cooperatively and jointly to provide seamless customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and employee information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
A part-time Accountant, upon application, shall have the following experience and training:
- Minimum of an associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Municipal accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with BS&A software is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel; advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP) strongly desired.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
