Job SummaryThe clinical nurse, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Clinical Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nursing and Operational Leadership according to policies and procedures within an ambulatory setting. A radiation oncology nurse is a registered nurse who supports cancer patients before, during, and after radiation treatment.
They provide essential care by managing treatment side effects (such as skin reactions and fatigue), educating patients, offering emotional support, and coordinating care with the oncology team.

Education:
Explaining treatment procedures, potential side effects, and self‑care strategies to patients and families. - Assessment & Symptom Management:
Monitoring patients weekly or more frequently for physical/emotional changes, skin reactions, and fatigue, and administering medications or treatments to manage these issues. - Treatment Coordination:
Assisting with simulation/planning, coordinating appointments, and collaborating with radiation therapists and oncologists. - Direct Patient Care:
Conducting assessments, reviewing treatment plans, and assisting with procedures. - Psychosocial Support:
Offering emotional support to patients and families throughout the cancer journey. - Radiation oncology nurses are vital for ensuring patient safety and continuity of care.
- Monday – Friday, No weekend or holidays.
- Required Associate's Degree Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's degree or equivalent.
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree B.S.N., or M.S.N., or DNP/PhD – if not minimum BSN prepared, new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience is required to enroll in an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of licensure date and complete within five (5) years required. Preferred effective September 2024.

- LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) – State of Michigan Upon Hire required.
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required OR.
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required.
- CRT-At least one Certification from preferred list – UNKNOWN Unknown Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation Upon Hire required.
