About the Unit

East SICU, 3 East, is a general surgery floor that typically manages general surgery patients, vascular, thoracic, and non-neuro trauma. The unit also handles transplant, high-risk obstetrics, post-partum, and ECMO patients, serving as the first unit for kidney and liver transplant cases and the sole receiving unit for ECMO patients across the hospital system.

The RN utilizes the ANA scope of practice and nursing process frameworks to provide professional, patient-family centered care. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, discharge coordination, teaching, documentation, and collaboration with the Nurse Leader and adherence to Corewell Health policies.

• Associate degree in Nursing (RN)
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing within 5 years
• Graduates from a non-accredited nursing school: at least 1 year of acute care experience or 2 years in a licensed healthcare role and successful NCLEX completion
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months
• Specialty certification highly recommended within 2 years
