Overview

About the unit:
Officially completed in February of 2019, this Emergency Center spans across 125,000 square feet with 135 mostly private rooms. It is a state‑of‑the‑art facility with radiology suites, pharmacy, and respiratory support. As one of the busiest Emergency Centers in the nation, and as a Level I Trauma Center/Level II Pediatric Emergency Center, you will be exposed to diverse learning opportunities.

We encourage front‑line staff to participate in day‑to‑day decisions and changes within the department.

Scope of Work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient‑family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures. The RN partners with the patient/family, uses their input and goals in planning the care plan, and develops teaching strategies for patient/family.

Documentation of education and learning is recorded appropriately in the health record.

Qualifications
  • Associate or Diploma in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing required within 5 years if new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience.
  • Graduates from a non‑accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health‑care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire/transfer from one of the following organizations – American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 1 year of hire/transfer.
  • Extended Neonatal Pediatric Care (ENPC) within 15 months of hire/transfer.
  • Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years.
  • Prefer RN experience.
