We are seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider to join our growing Pediatric Urology team. The APP will work collaboratively with pediatric urologists to provide comprehensive, family-centered care to infants, children, and adolescents with a variety of urologic conditions.
This position offers a combination of independent patient management and collaborative practice within an outpatient pediatric urology clinic. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, interested in pediatric specialty care, and committed to delivering exceptional patient and family experiences.
Primary Responsibilities- Conduct independent clinics for patients with:
- Enuresis (bed wetting)
- Voiding dysfunction
- Other common pediatric urologic conditions
- Manage post-operative follow-up visits and ongoing surveillance of surgical patients.
- Provide longitudinal care for children with chronic and complex urologic conditions, including patients with spina bifida and other anomalies.
- Collaborate closely with pediatric urologists regarding evaluation, treatment planning, and care coordination.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, behavioral interventions, and postoperative care.
- Coordinate care with primary care providers and multidisciplinary specialty teams.
- The APP will be trained, as needed, to perform in-office procedures, including catheter insertion/removal and management as well as additional office-based urologic procedures.
- Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment. Works in collaboration with a physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up.
- Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of clients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
- Writes prescriptions for medication, blood products based upon laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols.
- Determines eligibility of patients for entry into clinical trials based on findings.
- Requests written consultation from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate and quality patient care.
- Interprets and evaluates findings of studies/tests.
- Relays appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
- Administers therapeutic measures and obtains specimens as prescribed.
- Evaluates the quality of care provided and recommends changes for improvement.
- Initiates appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the client.
- Dictates follow-up letters to referring physicians with summaries of treatment, response, and plan.
- Maintains provision of preventive health services (e.g. screening, risks assessment, immunizations, PAP smears, self-breast exam).
- Dictates or writes patient history, admissions, care plans, progress, and discharge notes.
- Interacts with program assistants and data managers for optimal patient care.
- Assists in the management of family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of patient care.
- Conducts or participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds and ensures appropriate and quality care for assigned patient.
- Provides on-call coverage.
- Performs patient triage and determines the urgency of physician's evaluation.
- Provides symptom management for side effects related to oncologic treatment.

- Pediatric experience required; motivated candidates with relevant clinical experience and an interest in pediatric specialty care are encouraged to apply.
- Pediatric urology experience preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and patient education skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Required Master's Degree Nursing with clinical specialization from an accredited institution
- 1 year of relevant experience 1 to 3 years’ experience as an Advanced Practice nurse in a specialty clinical setting Required
- LIC-Nurse Practitioner (NP) - State of Michigan Upon Hire required
- Required Bachelor's Degree Graduate of AMA recognized PA program that is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for Physician Assistants and meet requirements of the state.
