Role Description The Beer, Wine & Liquor Team Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in Royal Oak, MI, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the beer, wine, and spirits department. This team member manages product merchandising, stock levels, shelf organization, and signage to ensure an appealing and compliant presentation. The role includes guiding and training team members, coordinating schedules, and supporting performance to deliver excellent customer service.
The Team Lead assists guests with product selection and recommendations, maintains food safety and responsible alcohol handling standards, and ensures adherence to all applicable laws and store policies. Additional responsibilities include monitoring sales trends, supporting inventory control, collaborating with store leadership on promotions, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and inclusive environment for shoppers and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Food & Beverage and Food Safety skills, including knowledge of alcoholic beverages and compliance with responsible service regulations.
- Customer Service skills focused on creating welcoming interactions, assisting with product selection, and resolving guest issues professionally.
- Team Leadership and Training skills to guide, coach, and support department team members in achieving performance and service standards.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management abilities to coordinate tasks, prioritize workload, and support smooth department operations.
- Experience in retail, grocery, or hospitality environments, particularly within beer, wine, or liquor departments, is highly beneficial.
- Basic math and point-of-sale skills, with the ability to manage transactions, handle cash accurately, and support inventory counts.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and move products throughout shifts, and to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
