Job Summary

The Foster Care Licensing and Intake Supervisor’s primary responsibilities include supervising the licensing specialists in regard to all licensing activities, as well as the recruitment and retention of foster homes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reviews and approves all reports and recommendations issued by the licensing specialist.
  • Reviews and approves all placement searches and matches.
  • Reviews and approves case initiating paperwork and assessments.
  • Oversees special evaluation of foster homes and determines compliance with agency and state policies.
  • Develops and implements plans for recruitment and retention of foster families to meet the needs of the program.
  • Supervises up to 5 Social Services staff (licensing specialists).
  • Conducts regular individual supervision sessions and unit meetings.
  • Participates in Family Team Meetings as required, and any other case conference as deemed necessary for the department.
  • Assists with emergency situations by covering shift(s) as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Use of personal vehicle as needed with mileage reimbursement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide culturally competent services that shows sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a human behavioral science and three years of experience as a social service worker in a child welfare agency, a child caring institution, or in an agency performing a child welfare function. Licensing experience preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
