Physical Education & Conditioning Teacher
The High School Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality physical education instruction to students in grades 9-12. This role includes developing fitness programs, promoting physical activity, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all students.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver effective PE lessons aligned with state and national standards
- Develop a variety of physical activities and sports programs that cater to diverse student interests and abilities
- Integrate health and wellness education into the PE
- Utilize technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and
- Assess student performance and progress through a variety of evaluation
- Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their physical skills and fitness
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and
- Establish and maintain a safe and positive learning
- Enforce school policies and procedures related to student behavior and
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of PE equipment and
- Participate in professional development opportunities and Professional Learning Teams (PLTs)
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the school community to support student
Physical requirements:
- Sitting Tasks:
Sitting is an occasional requirement 10% of the time. - Walking Tasks:
Walking is a frequent requirement up to 90% of the time. - Standing Tasks: standing is a frequent requirement up to 85 to 90% of the time.
- Sprinting/Running Tasks:
Sprinting/running is an occasional requirement, example: in case of emergency. - Flexibility:
- Bending or twisting at the neck is a frequent requirement 85 - 90% of the time.
- Bending or twisting at the trunk is a frequent requirement 85 - 90% of the time.
- Reaching above the head is a frequent requirement 85 - 90% of the time.
- Reaching forward is a frequent requirement 85 - 90% of the time.
- Repeating the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times is a frequent requirement 85 - 90% of the time.
- Use Of Arms & Hands:
- Manual dexterity is a frequent requirement 90% of the time.
- Finger dexterity is a frequent requirement 90% of the time.
- Lifting 10 - 25 Pounds:
- Lifting 10 - 25 pounds is a frequent requirement 90% of the time.
- Lifting above the shoulders is a frequent requirement 90% of the time.
- Lifting above the waist is a frequent requirement 90% of the time.
- Lifting above the knees is a frequent requirement 90% of the time.
- Lifting 26 - 50 Pounds:
- Lifting 26 - 50 pounds is a frequent requirement up to 50% of the time.
- Lifting items above the shoulders is an occasional but essential requirement.
- Lifting items above the waist is a frequent requirement.
- Lifting items above the knees is a frequent requirement.
- Lifting 50 - 75 Pounds:
- Lifting over 50 pounds is an occasional but essential requirement.
- Pushing & Pulling:
- Pushing and pulling 75 pounds an occasional requirement up to 10% of the time.
- Pushing and pulling 50 - 75 pounds is an occasional requirement up to 20% of the time.
- Pushing and pulling 25 - 50 pounds is a frequent requirement up to 60% of the time.
- Carrying Tasks:
- Carrying of items that weigh between 25 - 50 pounds is a daily requirement.
- Use Of Protective Equipment:
- Protective equipment may be required as necessary for eye, ear, hands, head, feet, and face protection.
