American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift travel assignment in New Mexico, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and successful completion of an on-site Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia test.
Details- Small critical access hospital setting with 19 total beds, including a 6-bed ICU and 13-bed Med/Surg & Pediatrics unit
- ICU patient ratio of 3:1;
Med/Surg and Pediatrics ratio up to 7:1 - 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
- Epic EMR used on-site; prior experience preferred but on-site training available
- Active RN license in New Mexico or a Compact State currently in hand
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications — all must be completed through the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety Institute, or American Red Cross
- Minimum of 2 years of current ICU experience required
- At least one prior 13-week travel nursing assignment required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN) required
- Must successfully pass an on-site Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test prior to starting the assignment
- English proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing) required
- Provides direct patient care using the nursing process — assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient needs and responses
- Coordinates care in collaboration with patients, families, and the broader healthcare team
- Administers medications and treatments per physician orders or standard protocols
- Responsible for clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
- The on-site BCA test is administered on the first day of orientation — candidates who fail have one opportunity to retest; a second failure results in contract termination
- Former permanent staff of Presbyterian Health Services must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- No charge or preceptor responsibilities required
- Any color or pattern of scrubs is acceptable
