Vertical Sales Specialist – Reliable Onsite Services (ROS)

Assigned to a defined district or multiple districts, the Vertical Sales Specialist drives profitable revenue for a product, application, or vertical customer segment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Grow product or vertical revenue in partnership with local territory Outside Sales Reps (OSR) and District Manager.
  • Drive the total value proposition of Reliable Onsite Services (ROS) and coordinate large, technically complex projects with opportunities for the full scope of ROS offerings.
  • Work with the Field Sales team to discover projects related to specific product or vertical.
  • Utilize Salesforce (SFDC) to enter, track, and close related project opportunities.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, representing United Rentals Reliable Onsite Services while collaborating closely with contractors bidding work.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings to communicate project details and hand off the project to Operations Management.
  • Design solutions with support from Branch Operations and Field Sales.
  • Submit system solutions to bidding contractors.
  • Close and win opportunities in Construction/Infrastructure markets.
  • Submit change orders.
  • Mentor Outside Sales Reps on ROS product offerings in specific verticals.
  • Serve as liaison between customer and operations.
  • Train, lead, and mentor OSRs in partnership with the District Manager.
  • Travel up to 50% overnight.
  • Operate in a safety‑sensitive role as required by United Rentals policy.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum of 7 years sales and/or sales and operations management experience.
  • Preference for experience with portable sanitation and temporary fence.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Strong sales and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of business accounting principles, P&L profitability, and business acumen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively train, motivate, and influence all levels of the sales/management organization.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills.
