Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineer role located in Russellville, AL. The Mechanical Engineer will design, analyze, and improve mechanical components and systems used in steel and mining-related operations. Daily responsibilities include developing detailed drawings and models using CAD tools, performing calculations and stress analyses, and supporting machine design from concept through fabrication and installation. The role involves collaborating with production, maintenance, and project teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, optimize performance, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

The Mechanical Engineer will also participate in project planning, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency across the facility.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Mechanical Engineering, including fundamentals of mechanics, materials, and industrial equipment.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Machine Design and practical experience applying design standards to heavy equipment or industrial machinery.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar) for modeling, drafting, and detailing components and assemblies.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Project Management to plan tasks, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and track timelines and deliverables.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Research and Development (R&D), including testing, data analysis, and implementing design improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field; professional engineering licensure or progress toward licensure is a plus.
  • Experience in metals, fabrication, mining, or heavy industrial environments is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and standards, and to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
