Entry-Level IT Operations & Development Associate Job About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically curious Entry-Level IT Operations & Development Associate to join our onsite IT team within a fast-paced steel manufacturing environment.
This position is perfect for early-career IT professionals who enjoy problem-solving, learning new technologies, and supporting both operational and development needs across the company.
You will assist with daily IT operations, system administration, troubleshooting, software development tasks, and projects supporting manufacturing systems and corporate infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network issues across the facility.
- Assist with basic server administration, user access management, and Active Directory tasks.
- Support Windows and Linux systems, including command-line and scripting tasks.
- Maintain web-hosted applications and databases.
- Use remote support tools for onsite and remote users.
- Participate in small development and automation projects using programming languages and frameworks.
- Assist with ERP system support, including integrated VPN access.
- Contribute to cloud, virtualization, and security initiatives under IT supervision.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow security and process protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams while managing independent tasks.
Candidates should have foundational knowledge and willingness to learn in the following areas:
- Basic networking concepts (IP, DNS, DHCP, switching, VPN)
- Introductory server management and scripting
- Windows OS, CMD, and Power Shell
- Active Directory basics (user management, permissions)
- Web hosting basics (files, databases)
- Hardware and software troubleshooting
- Understanding APIs (JSON) and frameworks:
VueJS, Laravel, Yii, Django - Version control (Git/Git Hub)
- Basic cybersecurity concepts (CIA triad, MFA, NIST/CMMC awareness)
- Remote support tools (Remote Desktop, N-Able)
- Agile concepts (Scrum, Jira, Confluence)
- Microsoft 365 / Office 365 administration
- General understanding of AI and emerging technologies
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to think independently before escalating issues
- Good written and verbal communication
- Works well independently and in team settings
- Associate degree or technical certification in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Development, or related field
- Relevant internships, personal projects, or lab experience
