Since 1973, Taber Extrusions has been a leading manufacturer of aluminum extrusion-based products for OEMs in markets ranging from Military, Department of Defense, Aircraft/Aerospace, Marine/Shipbuilder, Boat Docks, Platforms, Decking, Motor Housing, Electronics, Heat Sinks, Automotive, Rail, and Structural Components. Taber is headquartered in Russellville, Arkansas and operates two manufacturing sites in Russellville and one manufacturing site located in Gulfport, Mississippi. The Company is segmented into five operating units;
Extrusion, Cast House, Fabrication, Friction Stir Welding and Micro Extrusion. Taber has continued to make ongoing investments in their value-added capabilities by recently expanding their Russellville facility to house their new friction stir welder.

Currently, Taber is seeking a Sales Application Engineer to join our Team Taber. At Taber, Sales Application Engineers are vital to the success of our organization. As a direct link to our customers, you will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders as well as other team members within the Taber Sales Organization and Operations Team to deliver the extrusion solutions our customers need.

Job Summary

The Sales Applications Engineeracts as the vital technical bridge between our specialized aluminum extrusion capabilities and the complex needs of our extrusion and specialty product clients. You will collaborate with the sales team to translate high-level customer requirements into manufactured, high-performance solutions for Taber Extrusions LLC.

• Technical Sales Support
  :
  Partner with Account Executives to identify growth opportunities and provide technical expertise during client presentations.
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Review customer prints and 3D models (CAD) to ensure extruded profiles meet structural requirements while optimizing production efficiency and cost.
• Quoting & Estimation
  :
  Develop accurate cost estimates and technical proposals, factoring in material types, specialized alloys, and labor for precision fabrication.
• Market-Specific Compliance: Ensure all designs and processes align with industry-specific standards, such as those required for high-precision aerospace and defense components.
• Internal Liaison: Act as the subject matter expert (SME) between the customer and internal production/tooling departments to resolve technical issues and refine project scopes.
• Product Testing: Oversee or facilitate run‑off testing, FEA simulations, and mechanical evaluations to verify that finished products meet client specifications.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering field.
• 3-5 years in a technical sales or applications engineering role, preferrable within the metal/aluminum industry.

• Deep understanding of aluminum alloys, extrusion processes, and secondary operations like friction stir welding and machining
• Familiarity with GD&T
• Ability to interpret complex technical drawings
• Demonstrate leadership and organization skills.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate with the sales staff, customers, and other management.
• Individuals are familiar with all applicable Quality System documents, policies and procedures.

Ability to read and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
