Job Description
Continuous Improvement Engineer
Taber Extrusions, headquartered in Russellville, Arkansas, is a leading manufacturer of aluminum extrusion‑based products for OEMs across multiple industries. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Russellville and Gulfport, Mississippi. The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be stationed at the Russellville site, reporting to the Engineering Manager, and will focus on process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Job SummaryResponsible for initiating and directing continuous improvement projects that reduce material waste, enhance product and process quality, increase production line productivity, and drive cost improvements to boost profitability. The role requires hands‑on daily engagement on the production floor and the development of skills that position the employee for future leadership opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborate with division and plant operational staff to implement, grow, and sustain business processes; provide on‑site support and remote monitoring to ensure system integrity and a continuous improvement culture.
- Develop measurement systems to track facility metrics and key process indicators; align scorecards with plant strategic goals and maintain action plans for all key metrics.
- Identify, analyze, and implement manufacturing improvement solutions.
- Initiate, manage, and participate in safety, quality, cost, and process control improvement projects.
- Participate in team process development initiatives.
- Support design and sourcing of equipment for manufacturing processes.
- Create and maintain process and audit documentation (e.g., FMEAs, control plans, capability studies, balanced line capacity models, flow analysis).
- Assess existing processes for improvement opportunities using Lean manufacturing concepts (Kaizen, TPM, value stream mapping, Six Sigma, experiment design, capability studies).
- Evaluate and recommend competitive technology implementation.
- Lead or collaborate with plant maintenance to keep facilities and equipment aligned with short‑ and long‑term goals.
- Develop, schedule, and deliver training to associates.
- Ensure compliance with all city, state, and federal regulatory legislation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ten (10) years’ manufacturing experience in process or manufacturing engineering preferred; specific technical knowledge may be required.
- Safety and quality mindset.
- Organized, detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and team‑oriented.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Team‑work ability.
