Travel RN – Behavioral Health

Facility: Saint Mary’s Regional Health System
Location: Russellville, Arkansas
Assignment Type: Travel
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Nights)

The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to individuals experiencing acute psychiatric, behavioral, or emotional crises. This role supports patient stabilization, therapeutic interventions, and safe milieu management while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care.

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for behavioral health patients
• Perform psychiatric assessments and monitor changes in mental status
• Administer medications, including psychotropic and PRN medications, per provider orders
• De‑escalate behavioral crises using therapeutic communication and evidence‑based interventions
• Maintain a safe environment and support patient engagement in treatment plans
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and nursing staff
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately and timely
• Participate in treatment team meetings and discharge planning
  
  Follow facility policies, regulatory standards, and behavioral health protocols

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience preferred
• Experience in inpatient psych, crisis stabilization, or behavioral health units strongly preferred
• Strong skills in de‑escalation, crisis intervention, and therapeutic communication
