The Direct Support Professional works on an interdisciplinary team that delivers superior quality of service and provides appropriate activities in a safe and healthy environment within the home and community setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assists clients in basic living skills and daily personal tasks, including showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation and planning, and financial budgeting.
- Provides transportation to and from activities and appointments as needed; a valid Arkansas Driver’s License is required.
- Maintains good communication among staff via appropriate means (facility logbook, staff meetings, etc.) regarding clients’ needs and progress toward their plan of care by the end of each shift.
- Accurately completes all documentation required by Family Care Champions (FCC), such as Behavioral Reports, Incident Reports, Compliance Forms, Personal Care Work Sheets, Requisition s, Maintenance Forms, Progress Reports, Monthly Attendance Logs, and other mandatory documentation.
- Follows mandatory documentation and record‑keeping requirements for Medicaid compliant FTA vehicle mileage and billing reports.
- Reports incidents and emergencies to supervisors or delegated authorities immediately.
- Assists in the formulation, management, revision, and follow‑through of each client’s Plan of Care to ensure that treatment is performed and health, safety, and security are prioritized.
- Follows proper medication management guidelines and assists in monitoring and documenting medication procedures.
- Organizes and carries out recreational activities for clients.
- Acts as a positive role model for clients through appropriate physical appearance and behavior, adhering to FCC’s dress code.
- Treats clients and their families with dignity and respect, reflecting FCC’s mission.
- Assists in the maintenance of FCC facilities and grounds, keeping them clean, orderly, and functional.
- Assists in the maintenance of FCC vehicles, ensuring cleanliness and routine preventive maintenance.
- Attends required training and pursues continuing education.
- Provides proof of liability insurance and maintains it up to date.
- May be required to undergo periodic driving tests and demonstrate proficiency with motor vehicles, including passenger vans; personal vehicles may also be used and must carry adequate liability coverage.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information regarding Friendship Community Care, Inc. and its clients in accordance with the non‑disclosure policy and HIPAA regulations.
- Adheres to the FCC Code of Conduct and Compliance Investigation Procedures.
- Maintains and completes consumers’ progress notes daily or as required on prescribed forms.
- Updates consumers’ records weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly, filing all necessary documentation in accordance with funding source requirements.

Qualifications- High school diploma or GED, or at least two years of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.
- Valid driver’s license. (Arkansas license required.)
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and memos, and present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
- Basic mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide; compute rates, ratios, percentages; interpret bar graphs.
- Computer skills: use standard office applications to complete forms and records.
- Reasoning ability: apply common‑sense understanding to follow written or oral instructions and interpret various formats of instructions.
- Physical demands: use hands, stand, walk, reach, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds; requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
