The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing structural steel, piping, equipment, tanks, and other industrial components using various protective coatings. This position ensures surfaces are properly prepared and coatings are applied in accordance with project specifications, manufacturer recommendations, and safety requirements while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

  • Prepare surfaces through sanding, grinding, blasting, scraping, pressure washing, or chemical cleaning.
  • Apply primers, epoxies, urethanes, zinc coatings, fireproofing coatings, and industrial finishes.
  • Operate airless spray equipment, conventional spray systems, rollers, and brushes.
  • Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Inspect completed work for coating thickness, finish quality, adhesion, and overall appearance.
  • Perform touch-up painting and repair damaged coatings.
  • Protect surrounding equipment and work areas from overspray and contamination.
  • Maintain spray equipment and painting tools.
  • Read and interpret project drawings, coating specifications, and work instructions.
  • Assist with scaffold setup, containment systems, masking, and material handling.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of coating materials used and production quantities.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and company safety procedures.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Assist other crafts when workload requires.
  • 2+ years of industrial painting experience preferred.
  • Experience with industrial protective coating systems.
  • Ability to operate spray painting equipment safely.
  • Basic understanding of coating preparation standards.
  • Ability to work at heights using lifts and scaffolding.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • SSPC or AMPP Coating Certifications
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • Aerial Lift Certification
  • Confined Space Training
  • Respirator Fit Test Certification

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift over 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Climb ladders, scaffolding, and elevated structures.
  • Stand, kneel, crawl, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Wear required PPE including respirators.
  • Work in confined spaces and elevated work areas.
