Agricultural Agronomist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Agricultural Agronomist to provide expert advice and support for their farming operations in the Rustenburg region. This role is crucial for optimizing crop yields, improving soil fertility, and implementing sustainable agricultural practices. You will work closely with farm managers and technical teams to diagnose field issues, recommend appropriate solutions, and monitor the effectiveness of agricultural inputs and techniques.

The position demands a strong scientific background, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a passion for advancing agricultural productivity through informed decision-making and cutting-edge research.

• Conduct soil sampling and analysis to assess nutrient levels, pH, and other critical factors, recommending appropriate fertilization programs.
• Evaluate crop performance, diagnose diseases, pests, and weed problems, and develop integrated management strategies.
• Provide technical guidance on seed selection, planting techniques, irrigation, and harvesting methods to optimize crop production.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in agronomy, sustainable farming practices, and agricultural technology.
• Develop and implement field trials to test new products, varieties, and farming techniques.
• Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for farm managers, documenting findings and proposed actions.

• Master's degree or PhD in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience as an Agronomist or in a similar agricultural research and advisory role.
• In-depth knowledge of soil chemistry, plant physiology, and entomology.
• Proven experience with field trial design and data analysis.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
