Lead Geoscientist - Exploration & Production

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Geoscientist to spearhead exploration and production initiatives within their energy division, based in Rustenburg . This senior position requires a visionary leader to guide subsurface interpretation and modeling efforts, identifying and evaluating new energy resources. You will be responsible for integrating diverse geological and geophysical data to build robust subsurface models, driving strategic decisions for exploration, appraisal, and development projects.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in seismic interpretation, well correlation, and basin analysis, fostering a collaborative environment and mentoring junior geoscientists.

• Lead and manage geological and geophysical studies for exploration and field development projects.
• Perform advanced seismic interpretation , structural analysis, and attribute mapping using industry-standard software.
• Integrate well data (logs, cores, tests) with seismic data to create comprehensive 3D subsurface models .
• Assess exploration risks and opportunities, providing quantitative estimates of hydrocarbon potential.
• Mentor and guide junior geoscientists, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Collaborate closely with reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and management to support project objectives.

• Master's or PhD degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• 10+ years of professional experience in geoscience, with a focus on exploration and production in the energy sector.
• Expertise in seismic data processing and interpretation, structural geology, and stratigraphy.
• Proficiency with geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Geo Graphix, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of basin analysis, sedimentology, and depositional environments.
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
