Operations Geologist

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Operations Geologist to join their team in Rustenburg. You will play a crucial role in supporting exploration and production activities by providing real-time geological expertise. This position requires close collaboration with drilling engineers and reservoir teams to ensure optimal well placement and formation evaluation. The ideal candidate will be adept at interpreting geological data, making rapid decisions in a dynamic environment, and contributing to the successful achievement of operational targets.

This role involves a hybrid work model, balancing remote analysis with periodic on-site engagement as needed.

• Provide real-time geological support during drilling operations, interpreting core samples, cuttings, and wireline logs.
• Develop and update geological models and maps based on drilling progress and new data.
• Collaborate with drilling teams to define optimal well targets, trajectory corrections, and casing points.
• Conduct formation evaluation, including identifying hydrocarbon shows and assessing reservoir potential.
• Communicate geological information effectively to drilling engineers, management, and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to post-drilling analysis and lessons learned sessions to improve future operations.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Earth Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations geology, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector.
• Proficiency in geological software for mapping, modeling, and log analysis.
• Strong understanding of depositional environments, stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
