Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Geologist to join their exploration team based in Rustenburg . This field-based role is crucial for identifying and evaluating new mineral deposits, particularly within the rich mining landscape of the North West province. You will be involved in all stages of exploration, from initial reconnaissance to detailed resource definition. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of geological principles, mapping techniques, and the interpretation of geophysical and geochemical data.
This is a hands‑on position requiring significant time spent in the field, working collaboratively with a team of geologists and geophysicists to drive exploration success for their key mining projects.
- Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and data collection in exploration areas.
- Interpret geological, geophysical, and geochemical data to identify prospective zones.
- Plan and supervise drilling programs for mineral exploration and resource definition.
- Prepare detailed geological reports, including resource estimates and geological models.
- Collaborate with the exploration team to develop exploration strategies and targets.
- Ensure all field activities comply with safety regulations and environmental best practices.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mineral exploration geology, with a focus on base metals or precious metals.
- Proficiency in geological mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS, Leapfrog).
- Experience in planning and overseeing drilling operations and core logging.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex geological datasets.
- Must hold a valid driver's license and be willing to undertake extensive fieldwork.
