Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic
To provide an engineering technical service to a section at a Business Area. The role of a Diesel Mechanic is to repair service and maintain all diesel-hydraulics and electro-hydraulics, vehicles and machinery so that optimal utilization of the equipment can be achieved.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSGrade 12 /STD 10 or NQF 4 is essential.
Certified competent as a Diesel Mechanic (Trade Certificate)
3 years Diesel Mechanic experience in a Trackless mining environment is essential
COMPETENCIES- Understanding of basic hydraulics system diagrams
- Builds, supports and maintains healthy diverse internal and external relations and implements remedial actions
- where required.
- Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
- Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
- Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free
- and recommends remedial action where necessary
- Ensure Performs administration and Artisan maintenance administration functions according to role requirements.
- Compiles work priority list and determine resource requirements.
- Communicates resource requirements.
- Compiles and completes accurate reports including safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports, shift and work
- order reports and ad hoc reports.
- Completes and approves allocated work orders.
- Completes planned maintenance schedules for stock items required.
- Reports defects and abnormalities to appropriate supervisor or manager.
- Ensures clear teamwork expectations and plans.
- Utilises appropriate tools to complete tasks.
- Makes materials and equipment available for the shift requirements.
- Co-coordinates multi-task team members to complete assigned work tasks or orders.
- Approves inspection orders.
