Junior To Mid-Level Piping Drafter / Designer
HGA is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Piping Drafter / Designer to support client operations in Waggaman, Louisiana. This position is responsible for preparing detailed piping design and drafting deliverables for industrial projects using AutoCAD Plant 3D with CADWorx. The ideal candidate will have experience developing piping drawings and 3D models while supporting field verification, fabrication, installation, and project execution activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop piping designs and construction drawings using AutoCAD 3D with CADWorx for Piping.
- Produce and maintain:
Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Isometric drawings (ISOs) 3D piping models Material Take-Offs (MTOs) - Perform field measurements and verify existing piping systems against P&IDs, isometrics, and field conditions.
- Walk down existing facilities to collect design information and validate as-built conditions.
- Coordinate with engineering and project teams to incorporate design revisions and maintain drawing accuracy.
- Support piping fabrication, installation, and inspection activities by providing accurate design documentation.
- Utilize Navisworks to review models and assist with design coordination.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable client standards, industry codes, and project requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Approximately 5 years of experience in piping drafting and design within an industrial environment.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD 3D and CADWorx for Piping.
- Experience creating and interpreting: P&IDs Isometric drawings 3D piping models Material Take-Offs (MTOs)
- Experience performing field measurements and conducting field walkdowns of existing facilities.
- Ability to verify existing installations against P&IDs and isometric drawings.
- Working knowledge of piping fabrication, installation, and inspection processes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Navisworks for model review and coordination.
- Experience supporting brownfield industrial facilities and as-built documentation.
- Familiarity with industrial plant design standards and drafting best practices.
- Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing, or heavy industrial facilities
