Compensation

Hourly base rate: $27.20 (Mechanic1). Mechanic2: $30.72, depending on experience.

About the Position

This is a skilled labor position working to install, repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment. The employee must work safely, follow safety rules, be dependable, and cooperate with all levels within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company policies and compliance requirements.
  • Wears all personal protective equipment as required.
  • Knows, understands, and performs all plant and departmental safety regulations and procedures; reports hazardous conditions.
  • Performs safety observations and completes training assignments.
  • Understands company policies, regulations, and procedures regarding employee conduct and attendance.
  • Performs duties with direct guidance as needed and assists other maintenance personnel as required.
  • Uses testing equipment and measuring techniques to troubleshoot.
  • Coordinates with production personnel on routine preventative and predictive maintenance to manage downtime.
  • Dismantles devices to access and replace defective parts using hand and power tools.
  • Makes adjustments to functional parts of equipment and control systems.
  • Fabricates repair parts using shop equipment such as welding, cutting, and machine tools.
  • Maintains and tests boilers, CO2 house, air compressors, and plant critical systems.
  • Layouts, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems for steam, hot water, heating, and cooling.
  • Replaces Indurator O‑rings, mold car bearings, oven door cables, and limit switches.
  • Operates in conformance with ISO certifications held by the Ruston facility.
  • Executes MRO work orders, including entry into SAP.
  • Communicates mechanical issues when troubleshooting equipment for internal customers.
  • Responds to call‑ins and works the call in request.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
Education, Experience & Skills
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school (preferred) or a one‑year certificate plus 1–3years related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Problem‑solving skills in standardized situations.
Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and repetitive motions. Must lift or pull 25lb and occasionally move up to 100lb with assistance. Requires good visual acuity for machinery.

Work Environment

Industrial manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, moving parts, ovens, and mobile equipment. Temperature can be extreme hot, humid, or cold. Walkways may be wet, dusty, and uneven. Noise, vibration, fumes, and airborne particles are present. Protective equipment includes steel‑toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection, and respirators as required.
