Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor leads a team of millwrights, leads, mechanics, planners, and technicians to ensure production equipment operates at peak performance while minimizing downtime. This role is responsible for driving reliability maintenance practices, supporting production continuity, and proactively addressing mechanical issues.
The Supervisor partners closely with production leadership to plan and execute maintenance strategies, eliminate operational roadblocks, and improve overall equipment reliability. This position also oversees hiring, training, and development to strengthen team capability and departmental performance.
Key Responsibilities- Ensuring all work is performed safely by addressing hazards before tasks begin
- Leading maintenance planning, scheduling, and project execution
- Auditing and inspecting maintenance work for quality and accuracy
- Diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical issues
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records
- Optimizing equipment performance and reliability
- Driving safety initiatives, including LOTO and Hot Work compliance
- Managing resources and adjusting priorities based on business needs
- Partnering with operations to support continuous improvement and production goals
Work is performed in an industrial mill environment, including exposure to extreme temperatures, confined spaces, heights, and physically demanding conditions.
Required Qualifications- Accredited degree OR equivalent hands‑on experience
- 7+ years of experience as a millwright
- Strong mechanical and technical expertise, including welding knowledge
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience
- Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills
- Ability to plan, organize, and execute maintenance work effectively
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead and train teams
- Working knowledge of reliability maintenance practices
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call rotations as needed
- Experience in a wood products manufacturing environment
- Advanced knowledge of equipment maintenance systems and processes
- Experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, and inventory management
- Demonstrated success implementing continuous improvement initiatives
