The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties, providing oversight in the Store Manager’s absence. The employee is knowledgeable in each product area, supports sales, merchandising, inventory, and delivers a unique customer experience while upholding policies and standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist the Store Manager in controlling assets and establishing action plans to meet departmental and store goals related to selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Take responsibility for the entire store during the Store Manager’s absence, providing knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability and inform the Store Manager about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Direct staff to ensure department responsibilities and standards are completed and deliver extraordinary customer service in accordance with the customer service manual.
- Promote products and services, uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards, and protect assets and financial information by maintaining internal control procedures.
- Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Interview, train, and coach staff; plan, assign, and direct work; and resolve problems.
- Experience in a retail environment, preferably footwear or athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and fast‑paced work skills.
- Ability to assist in team management, maintain focus on overall goals and profits, and work independently as a self‑starter.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team‑player who is passionate about outstanding customer service and merchandise sales.
