Position Overview

Skilled level position responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment throughout the plant and coordinating with outside contractors on electrical projects. The role requires a safety‑first mindset, adherence to all safety rules, and consistent follow‑up on safety observations and training.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support and promote safe practices and environmental commitments in line with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respirator.
  • Know, understand, and perform all plant and departmental safety regulations and procedures; immediately report hazardous conditions.
  • Perform safety observations and complete training assignments.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair all electrical equipment and motors.
  • Design and install new electrical systems and system modifications.
  • Check and calibrate process control instrumentation throughout the plant.
  • Conduct annual inspection and cleaning of motor control centers and electrical switch gear.
  • Make adjustments to electrical parts of equipment and control systems as needed.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors on electrical projects.
  • Program and install programmable logic controllers.
  • Follow NFPA 70E electrical safety standards in the workplace.
  • Comprehend electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Perform monthly inspection of ISO temperature checks for ovens.
  • Conduct annual inspection for shorts in breakers and wiring and supervise arc‑flash testing.
  • Provide electrical training for mechanics.
  • Operate and perform duties using mobile equipment when needed.
  • Perform duties in conformance with the ISO certification held by the Ruston facility.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by management.
Qualifications & Education
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school, or completion of an Industrial Electrician Program from a qualified technical school.
  • Three to five years of industrial electrical experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in varied situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduling instructions.
  • Electrical license (required).
  • Forklift certification (required).
Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The job often involves repetitive motions, lifting, pushing, or pulling 25 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds with assistance. Visual acuity for working around machinery is required. Work is performed in an industrial manufacturing environment that is often hot, humid, cold, noisy, with vibration and fumes. Protective equipment such as steel‑toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection, and protective masks may be required in certain areas.

Compensation

Base hourly rate: $31.74. Pay is determined by experience and may range from $31.74 (Electrician
1) to $34.18 (Electrician
2).
